Last Sunday, I went to the Oktoberfest at the Alpine Village in Torrance. This is me, wondering where all the action is.

I had printed up some free admission tickets from the Alpine Village website and that turned out to be a good thing. I never did understand why admission was being charged in the first place. A section of the grounds had been fenced off, picnic tables were set up, beer and food were both being sold… that wasn’t worth the price of $5 per person admission.

Maybe the admission fee was for the ENTERTAINMENT generously provided by the brass band and authentic German dancers!

Or maybe it was to keep out the riff raff. Who knows?

The best part of the day was shopping over at the German market, where I found licorice fish.

Sweet! And salty.

While shopping in the market, I over heard this:

Boy: Can we leave now? This place smells like bad cheese!

Slightly Older Sister: No, this place smells like Family Reunion.
