The heat wasn’t working, and what with the outside temperatures dipping down into the upper 50’s at night, I was forced to call the Crazy Apartment Manager. She said everyone else’s heat was working, and I reminded her I didn’t live with everyone else, then asked if she could send out a repairman. She said she had to call a radiant heat specialist, but it turned out to be a faulty thermostat.

The old General Electric thermostat was no doubt originally placed in 1960.

When I came home, I could tell the repaiman had been around, because it was about a hundred degrees in the bedroom. I quickly turned the new Honeywell thermostat down to 80.
